About This Blog

I was fashion editor for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch for about 12 years, but I’m now working for the business page covering retail. Since fashion is a retail business, it’s not as drastic as it sounds.

I’m write a weekly column called Retail Details in addition to stories on business trends.

Most of the work from my day job can be found as stltoday.com/retail.

This site is a digital portfolio of sorts, including current work and encore posts of articles from years past. I’ve added new details about the older stories and in some cases I give details about my regrets and/or triumphs.

A little about me: I freelance as a writer and actor. I’m a lover of all things brunch. I started a blog called the Funky Brunch Bunch, but that project was short-lived. Turns out, I like eating brunch more than writing about it.

I also love breakfast for dinner, which is something I occasionally talk about on my other neglected blog, attentiondeficitdeb.com. I called the blog Attention Deficit Deb for all of the obvious reasons: I’m an attention seeker and one desperately in need of focus.

  1. I enjoyed your article on oats which was on http://www.arkansasonline.com. We are on the Heart Diet and are adding oats to more and more. Old Fashion Oats (uncooked) are great sprinkled on yogurt. For breakfast, add a little canned pumpkin, cinnamon, raisins before cooking. I add some salt but very little. After cooking, he adds milk and I add unsweetened applesauce. Either way, you have serious health food. Pumpkin is really healthy if you don’t add brown sugar and pie crust. I’m adding pumpkin to all kind of things.

  2. He had heart surgery in ’09 and we had to go to cooking school. Everyone should have to take that BEFORE their heart attack. I’ve been reinventing recipes since then. I put pumpkin in chili and use a good bit of chicken. He is a picky eater so I have to be sneaky.
